Our farm has been family owned and operated for over 50 years. We sell both meat and produce at our store, our CSA Share Program and also at the Farmer’s Market in Waitsfield and Montpelier.

Our Philosophy

Gaylord Farm grows food to provide our community exceptional organic meats and produce. We provide an educational forum for consumers to understand the benefits of quality, locally grown food, for a sustainable existence. We believe in the "mixed farm", the cultivation of fruits and vegetables, combined with raising livestock and fowl in a manner that is efficient, economical, and environmentally friendly. Providing rich manure from the animals is the absolute basis for healthy, sustainable farming.

Gaylord Farm raises registered Black Angus and Belted Galloway (Oreo Cookie) cows totaling about 250 head that are grass fed. During the winter months they eat the hay we made in the summer. We wrap the hay in white plastic to keep it fresh with the nutrients they would usually get from the pasture. They are also fed organic day old breads as well as vegetable waste from our gardens.

Some of our pigs are of old heritage breed called Old Spot, as well as the common, Landrance pig. They also eat vegetable waste from the gardens.

Our meat chickens and laying hens are "free range". They eat a corn-based feed without hormones or steroids.
